Song Kim

Song Kim is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of a med tech startup seeking to advance health equity, where she leads corporate strategy, team and business development, and fundraising. She was previously a lawyer at the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, where she worked at the intersection of immigrant rights and economic justice. She believes in and is driven by the power of individual and collective stories in co-creating a more equitable future.

Qian Julie Wang

Qian Julie Wang is a sought-after litigator, author, and public speaker. Her first book and instant New York Times bestseller, Beautiful Country, is a literary memoir about her undocumented childhood in New York City. A graduate of Yale Law School and a seasoned commercial litigator, Qian Julie is the managing partner of Gottlieb & Wang LLP, a firm dedicated to advancing the educational rights of marginalized communities. Qian Julie's work in both law and publishing is propelled by her belief that storytelling holds unique power to unite humanity and advance equality.

Kate Lee

Kate is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Make Us Visible. She is also a K-12 Curriculum Editor for the PBS Asian Americans docuseries and the Program Manager of the Asian American Education Project. Born and raised in San Diego, she has been a middle school teacher in Connecticut for over ten years. Kate hopes to continue centering education as the long term tool in combating anti-Asian hate.

Julia Chang Wang

Julia grew up in Beijing and Chicago and graduated from Yale Law School. Before law school, Julia studied History and Economics at Harvard and obtained her Masters in History at Cambridge. She also worked in Chicago on community organizing and curriculum development. She has worked at the Center for Reproductive Rights and is now a practicing lawyer in New York. She hopes IHI will bring greater understanding and appreciation for the stories of immigrants like herself.

Kathy Lu

Kathy grew up in Oregon and graduated from Yale Law School. She has several years of teaching and curriculum development experience and is passionate about immigrant histories. Since graduating from Yale, Kathy works at a non-profit organization providing legal services to immigrant survivors of gender-based violence in New York City. She founded this organization to raise up immigrant voices in hopes of a more just, empathetic, and colorful America.

Matt Bewley

Matt Bewley is an urban planner who works on bus service and operations planning. He has been the secretary of IHI’s board since 2018. First in AmeriCorps and now as a planner, he has had significant experience working on issues that directly impact immigrant communities in the northeast, including food insecurity and transportation equity. He studied history in college, and believes history education can be a powerful tool for advancing racial justice. He’s proud to serve on the board as IHI as it continues to grow.

Ron Lee

Ron Lee practices national security, cybersecurity, privacy, and government contracts law as a partner of Arnold & Porter.  He is a director of the Asian American Arts Alliance and a founding co-sponsor of the Quan Lee Excellence Fund for Asian Canadian and Asian Migration Studies at the University of British Columbia.  He is a member of the Advisory Council of Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy and served as an inaugural outside director and as the President and Secretary of the Yale Law Journal .  Ron holds degrees from Princeton University (A.B. History), Oxford University (M.Phil. International Relations), and Yale Law School (J.D.)

Andy Parker

Andy Parker is the CFO and General Counsel at Baltimore Corps, a non-profit that recruits and supports emerging leaders in Baltimore City. Prior to joining Baltimore Corps, he worked for several years in government and politics, focusing on civic engagement and participation. Andy grew up in Oregon, studied at Stanford and the University of Cambridge, and holds a JD from Yale Law School.​

Swapna Reddy

Swapna Reddy is Co-Executive Director of the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP). Since its founding, ASAP has prevented the imminent deportation of hundreds of asylum seekers and provided community education to thousands of asylum seekers online. Swapna’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including the New York Times, The New Yorker, and TIME Magazine. She is currently an Ashoka Fellow and is the past recipient of an Echoing Green fellowship, Equal Justice Works fellowship, and the J.M.K. Innovation Prize.

Adam Strom

Adam Strom is the Director of Re-Imagining Migration. Throughout his career, Mr. Strom has connected the academy to classrooms and the community by using the latest scholarship to encourage learning about identity, bias, belonging, history, and civic engagement in our interconnected world. The educational resources developed under Strom’s direction have been used in tens of thousands of classrooms and experienced by millions of students around the world. Before helping to co-found Re-imagining Migration, Adam was the Director of Scholarship and Innovation at Facing History and Ourselves.

Ted Lee

Ted Lee is a Senior Manager at Bain & Company, a global management consultancy. In this role, he advises a variety of leading for-profit and nonprofit organizations on their most pressing strategic and operational issues. Ted is also an advocate for progressive health and economic policy with experience spanning academia, think tanks, nonprofits, and government. In addition to his role at IHI, Ted sits on Fenway Health’s Board of Visitors.

George Hsieh

George Hsieh is a Senior Consultant at Community Resource Exchange, where he oversees the firm’s innovation practice and leads engagements focused on strategic planning, change management, team effectiveness, and equity for nonprofits, funders, and government agencies. Prior to CRE, George worked at the Open Society Foundations, where he managed grants that supported organizations and coalitions working to advance human rights and social justice. He also created a new initiative that provided strategic funding to nonprofit executives navigating leadership transitions.

Alison Lee

Alison Lee is a Cognitive Scientist and Researcher at Instagram (and formerly a Director of Continuous Improvement at an education non-profit). Alison brings with her a deep passion for racial equity, full and authentic representation & advocacy for API communities, and equity-centered AI. She earned her Ph.D in Cognitive Science in Education and M.S. in Learning Analytics from Columbia University. Alison hopes to leverage her experiences and expertise with IHI to design and facilitate meaningful conversations about identity and healing, and catalyze meaningful change and evolution for, with, and by young people.

Nancy Yun Tang

Nancy Yun Tang 唐韵 (she/they) is a PhD student of comparative politics at Princeton University. A native of Beijing, China, Nancy came to the United States at age 18 and later. obtained a B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from Yale Law School. Before Princeton, Nancy represented low-income Asian immigrants as a public interest law fellow at the Asian Outreach Unit of Greater Boston Legal Services. Her current research interests include Chinese politics, law and social movements, gender and sexuality, and U.S. immigration.
